Why only people in love are troubled?

Many HR persons are drafting love or dating contracts and enforcing them upon couples without taking into account various aspects.

According to the contract of Intermediaries limited “We also assure the management that in no way our reporting relationship would be influenced by personal romantic relationship …….”

The company’s contract statement that reporting relationships are influenced by personal romantic relationship is curtailed as there are many other relationships between two people which can influence it. It can be a relationship of friendship, hate or just a mutual understanding between two people. A person is not given promotion just because his boss dislikes him or the other way round. There are no such contracts which regulate such relationships. Also social problems such as corruption, nepotism can arise between people even if they are not in a love or dating relationship. Such social problems have happened in the past. The main reason given by the company for impose of such a contract is fear of embarrassing situations like Sexual harassment case, but this can also happen even if two people are not dating or are not in any personal relationship. This depends on the morality of the act doers.

If a love affair can create a problem for the company then what about married couples. As many organizations have married couples working together for the same company. Similar problems may arise because of married couples also, but there are no contracts covering those aspects.

The companies making such love or dating contracts are harassing the people in love and nothing more. Such contracts should be scrapped. If the company wants to maintain a transparent and disciplined atmosphere against corruption, nepotism, favoritism etc., rules regarding such issues should be included in the employment contract or some kind of discipline contract to be signed by each and every individual let alone the dating couples. This will ensure a fair treatment of the employer towards each and every employee of the company.

The positive side of love or dating relationship can be increased cooperation and understanding between two employees. If one has to come to office on weekend other person also comes to give him/her company. In such scenarios, some extra work can be done by the accompanying partner. Also in case of late night work, the responsibility of the manager about security of female employee reduces as the male partner takes care of that as well.

As more and more companies are making the appraisals quantitative these days, scope of taking advantage out of such relationships is decreasing.
